Brrr…it’s cold outside! When the temperature drops, so does the humidity – leading to dry, cracked and irritated skin! To help with this problem, we’ve come up with some tips on how you can winterize your skin care!
Moisturize, Moisturize, Moisturize!
Between the cold air combined with low humidity, and high indoor heat that strips moisture from the air, our skin can get unpleasantly dry and taut. To heal our skin, we must moisturize from head to toe!
For the Face
As we get deeper into the winter, and temperatures start to drop to near freezing, it’s really important to incorporate heavier moisturizers, such as creams, from time to time. Two great creams for winterizing your skin care are Biolight™ Brightening Daytime Protection Cream and Biolight™ Brightening Overnight Cream. The Biolight Day Protection Cream is a great defender against the environment, while the Biolight Overnight Cream is great to apply before bed time. As we’ve discussed, there are differences between a day and night cream, and it’s necessary to incorporate both into your skin care routine, especially during the winter time when our skin needs constant hydration. Night creams, in particular, play an important role in hydrating your skin that is losing moisture from high indoor heat!
For the Body
Unfortunately, dry skin doesn’t stop at the neck! To keep moisture locked into the skin, oil based products, such as Sea Spa Massage, Bath, & Body Oil, are really great to use. Use it for a massage, in a luxurious bath, or as an after bath oil. Not only does its versatility make this oil wonderful, but the superlatively soft and silky skin that this oil will leave you with is magical! If you prefer a cream over an oil, then Seaweed Body Cream will reduce unwanted flakiness and leave your skin ultra touchable!
For the Hands
Chapped hands are both unpleasant looking and unpleasant feeling, but they can be avoided with Sea Spa Hand Cream. Key ingredients in this hand cream, such as Shea Butter, help to nourish and protect your skin. With the lack of protection our hands get from the cold, and constant exposure, they can get extra dry extra fast! This even comes in travel size, so you can have a hand cream on you at all times!
Stay Hydrated!
To alleviate dry winter skin, you must always stay hydrated! Hydration comes from within, making it so important to be drinking fluids. As always, drink plenty of water to keep your body and skin hydrated. Indulge in some warm tea with lemon and honey. What’s better than a toasty drink in the winter time? In fact, honey is a natural humectant and it has the ability to hydrate the body from within. Try increasing your fruit consumption as well! Fruits are rich in antioxidants and have high water content that will help your skin and body stay hydrated!
