How to Prevent and Treat Chapped Lips

2 min read

lips

During the winter time, our lips can easily transition from being pretty and plump to becoming the unflattering and flaky focal point of our face. Especially with Valentine’s Day approaching, for the sake of your Valentine, prep your puckers! Get smooth lips like Angelina by taking proper precautions!

Start off by kicking the bad habit of licking and biting your lips.  When we begin to feel our lips drying out, we know a natural tendency can be to give them a little lick! Although we might feel like this is helping, our saliva contains enzymes that break down food, and chapped lips do not need to be further broke down. Rather, look for products to apply to your lips that are rich in ingredients like shea butter, cocoa butter, Vitamin E, or oils to nourish your lips, like our Essential Oil of Seaweed. The combination of Vitamin E and Laminaria Saccharina Seaweed will help to hydrate and nourish your skin, create a lipid protection, and heal those chapped winter lips.

If you love to pamper your lips, be smart in the products you choose. Avoid lip products with alcohols and artificial fragrances. Rather choose lipsticks or glosses that will hydrate your lips, such as Repêchage Conditioning Lip Gloss, that is made with nourishing ingredients for your lips, like shea butter, seaweed, sesame oil, and Vitamin E. Unlike many cosmetic lip products, this gloss will leave your lips well protected! Shea butter is rich in antioxidants such as vitamins E and A, and will protect your lips from the free radical damage.

When it comes to our eating and drinking habits, as always, choose wisely. Remember, alcohol and coffee are diuretics. Make sure to incorporate olive oil into your daily diet, as it is rich in antioxidants and will lubricate your lips!
