How To Repair Summer Hair

2 min read

Hi I’m Natalie Otto, licensed esthetician and Corporate Educator at Repêchage. Today I’d like to share some tips with you on how to repair your summer hair.

Between the sun, salt, and chlorine, now more than ever your hair needs extra conditioning. We all know the effects of sun on the skin but sun damage can also wreck havoc on the hair and scalp. Sun exposure dehydrates the scalp creating brittle, dry and damaged hair from root to tip. Chlorine can also have the same drying effect. Just as lack of sebum on the skin will cause the skin to age prematurely, lack of sebum at the scalp due to dehydration can cause hair to look dry, frizzy and can even accelerate hair aging. Re-hydrate hair with essential fatty acids from avocado and safflower oil with the Repêchage Hydra-Amino 18 Hair Spa Seaweed Mask. Avocado helps to moisturize, nourish and re-hydrate damaged hair with essential nutrients like proteins, vitamins, amino acids and folic acid. It is also known to have natural sunscreen properties that can protect the hair and scalp from the damage caused by the harmful UVA and UVB rays. Safflower oil also contains high levels of Vitamin E which helps to protect the hair from the elements while nourishing and re-hydrating the hair and scalp. It also has the ability to attract and retain moisture in the cortex of the hair helping to create healthier, shinier hair.

Use this mask at least twice a week, unless you find yourself really enjoying the benefits of the summer – then that number can be increased.
